Five Invaluable Lessons Learned From My First Job

Several days ago, an old friend asked me how long I had been working in marketing.  I had to get a calculator out to do the math and it turns out I’ve been in the marketing workforce for 38 years.  Thirty-eight years!  Jeez!  It sure doesn’t seem that long.  Time really does fly by when you are having fun – AND when you are constantly learning new things along the way.   I learned several things from my very first job all those years ago.  And those lessons are relevant today – all these years later, as I ponder my next career move.  Lesson #1:  Know your motivation and draw strength from it  When I was nineteen, I took a summer job with a construction company that also had a commercial property management division.  … [Read more...]
