Why Listen to the New Voice in the Crowded Room?

In our own individual industries, we tend to pay particular attention to the seasoned veterans wearing tailored suits, sitting in corner offices and lots of acronyms following their names.  We tend to give more weight to their ideas and we think about their business directions and suggestions with greater focus.  But what about the new voices in the room?  Do we pay attention?  Do we value their perspectives?  Do we listen? Probe?  Discuss?  Try to understand?
