Grit, Guts and Obsession: The new requirements for Success

A lot of really smart people are writing about the "New Normal" in America when it comes to managing one’s own career.  And what they are saying is that the only way to succeed is through grit, guts and obsession. This weekend I was reading through several articles and noticed this common theme.
